Trail Life Update – Troop Year Off and Running
Trail Life’s troop year is off to a great start! The past few months have been a whirlwind of growth, service, and adventure, setting a fantastic pace for the rest of our year.
Our journey began in August with a successful Open House, which was a wonderful chance to welcome new members. We are thrilled to announce that our troop family has grown by three new families 👨👩👧👦, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm to our ranks.
Service and faith are cornerstones of the Trail Life program, and our troop had the distinct honor of participating in a very special ceremony in August. We celebrated the retirement of Pastor Frank and recognized his incredible 45 years of service to the Gospel by presenting him with a Christian Flag. It was a powerful moment for our boys to honor such a dedicated servant of Christ.
The momentum continued into September as we celebrated Troop Sunday on the 14th. This annual event is a vital opportunity for us to connect with and serve our charter organization, reinforcing the strong partnership that supports our mission.
Our commitment to service extended into two hands-on community projects! Our boys eagerly pitched in to help with the annual church pumpkin patch 🎃. They demonstrated great teamwork and practical skills by building an extension to the fence and working hard to help unload the hundreds of pumpkins that arrived. Furthermore, our older boys—the Navigators and Adventurers—have been busy assisting with a crucial ministry: they helped prepare the empty shoeboxes for the upcoming Operation Christmas Child (OCC) packing party. This service ensures that everything is ready to pack gospel opportunities for children around the world.
Speaking of support, our September fundraiser was a tremendous success! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the church and community members whose generosity will help fund our troop activities, resources, and adventures throughout the year. Your support is instrumental in helping us mentor these young men.
Adventure and learning have been high on the agenda for every age group. Our youngest members, the Woodlands Trail boys, took a fascinating trip to the Edison Ford Winter Estates and labs 💡. They explored history, nature, and the inventive minds of two American icons, making science and discovery truly come alive.
Meanwhile, our older boys, the Navigators and Adventurers, dove headfirst into the wilderness with their first campout of the year. They successfully hiked three miles into the Fisheating Creek Wildlife Management Area 🏕️, showcasing their grit, teamwork, and love for God’s creation.
The growth hasn’t been limited to the boys. Our committed adult leaders have been sharpening their skills by attending the rigorous Peak 1 and 2 training. This vital leadership development ensures that we are equipped with the best strategies and knowledge to run an effective, safe, and meaningful troop program.
Finally, our commitment to faith formation is stronger than ever. The Navigators and Adventurers have been meeting on Sunday evenings for dedicated Bible study. They are currently focused on a series designed to help them learn how to Stand Strong for Christ in their daily lives.
With a strong foundation in faith, a commitment to service, and a passion for adventure, we are excited to see all that the Trail Life Troop will accomplish this year. It’s truly a great time to be a part of this growing, vibrant troop!
