Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

The International Mission Board (IMB) has set aside December as the month for raising money for Foreign Missions through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  The offering is named after Lottie Moon a woman who was a young Southern Baptist missionary to China, that felt compelled her to flee the safety of the Baptist missionary compound in order to live among those "heathen" to whom she felt called. In middle age, it gave her the strength to place her 4-foot-3-inch body in the path of an anti-Christian mob intent on harming believers and saying, "You will have to kill me first." As an older woman, it compelled her to give away her food so others might live and have one more opportunity to find Jesus. You can read more about her at the IMB website for click here.

This month we honor her legacy as we ask you to give money toward international missions.  First Baptist Church of LaBelle has set a goal of $3,000 to support this offering and 100% of the money given will go directly to supporting Southern Baptist missionaries in the field around the world.  All Southern Baptist churches participate in this and the national goal for this year is $175 million.  We know that times are tight and the church asks for money for many ministries but please consider this offering as even the smallest donation can be used to further the work of our missionaries.
