Trail Life Going Strong

First of all, thank you to everyone who supported our troop’s fundraiser last month! We presold 483 dinners and sold around 550 chickens when it was all said and done. We also are very grateful to our pit-bosses: Paul Burchard, Jeff Burton, Tony Tolar, and Rob Underwood (and his family). We’ve been busy this year so far and have exciting plans for the rest of the year as well!

We also just finished our first, full-troop campout of the year at the Mulroy Serenity Camp. We are very grateful for Mr. Steve and Mrs. Debbie allowing us to roam their property, camp out, and catch some fish. We had 31 campers and ate 120 eggs, 6 pounds of bacon, 3 pounds of venison backstrap, and untold numbers of smores.

Our big plans for this year are having our Woodlands Trail Trailmen return to the Kennedy Space Center along with other Florida troops, participate in the Everglades/Caloosa Area Trail Junction in April, and have our Navigator/Adventurers attend this year’s Summer Adventure in Tennessee this coming June. Many of our adult leaders will also be attending a Peak 3, multi-day training event in December which is a demonstration of their dedication to providing the best program we can. We will also continue to have all of our normal meetings, hit-the-trail events, and campouts!

It’s an exciting time to be in Trail Life! If you are interested in joining us, please come to one of our meetings: we meet on the first, third, and fifth Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm in the Social Hall. Our troop is open to all boys from 5 years old (by October 31) to 17 years old. There is also a program for college-aged (18 -25) men and women which we would love to start at our church, so if you are interested in that, please email me at amdeerey@gmail.com.
