Last night, January 21st, 2020, Trail Life Troop FL-1613 met for the very first time. There were 27 young men who raised their hand and spoke the Trailman’s Oath for the first time as a troop:
On my honor, I will do my best
To serve God and my country;
To respect authority;
To be a good steward of creation;
And to treat others as I want to be treated
After the opening ceremony, the trailmen broke into their patrols to begin learning about what it means to be a trailman and to begin learning very basic first aid. The Fox patrol (Kindergarten and 1st Grade) practiced wrapping bandages, treating minor wounds like bug bites, and understanding when to call 9-1-1.
The Hawk patrol (2nd & 3rd) was combined with the Mountain Lion (4th & 5th) patrol to learn more advanced techniques like splinting and making a stretcher in the field.
Our Navigators (Middle School) participated in the joining conference where they learned about how they will begin their progress by becoming a Recruit Trailman, the starting point for their journey. The also learned that joining a patrol within the Navigators means they will be given responsibility over their path and will actively participate in the decisions and direction of their patrol.
We are just beginning and learning together as a troop. If you have a son who is anywhere between Kindergarten and a High School senior, they are welcome in our troop!
If you are an adult with a desire to teach young men the skills and knowledge they will need as men, then please reach out to us. We have many young men in each patrol and we need adults to guide them! If nothing else, please pray for our new Trail Life Troop as we strive to Walk Worthy!
