Annie Armstrong Week of Prayer – Day 1

The people who live in darkness have seen a great light, and for those living in the shadowland of death, light has dawned. –MATTHEW 4:16 (HCSB)

The missions field is all around us. According to statistics, 269 million people across North America do not know Christ, but hundreds of churches are closing their doors every year. Now is the time to act, and North American missionaries are through church planting and compassion ministries.

More than 5,000 are at work in large cities, rural communities, and college campuses. They proclaim the good news and gather new Christians into the body of believers. These men and women are finding ways to meet needs and engage in community, and it’s making a difference. However, the needs outpace the workers; many more are needed.

Let’s put our hope in the Lord of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into the field.

God will raise up more missionaries willing to be sent out so that the lost can hear the message of Christ. (ROMANS 10:14)

The hearts of North American missionaries will daily trust in the Lord and they will not rely on their own wisdom. (PROVERBS 3:5)
